Tveter Very Quick in FIA Formula 3 Winter Testing
VALENCIA, SPAIN, Dec 18, 2014- Ryan Tveter ended 2014 on a high note and completed a very successful post-season testing program in Formula 3, recording the fourth-fastest time overall just 2 tenths of a second from 2014 race winner Antonio Giovinazzi on the final day of winter testing at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia.
Tveter has spent December testing FIA Formula 3 in preparation for a potential move up in 2015. His first test in the car was at the historic Grand Prix Circuit at Silverstone in the United Kingdom testing for the championship-winning Volkswagen powered Carlin Racing Team. He was immediately quick posting the fastest time his first run in the car at a damp Silverstone. The circuit dried in the afternoon and Tveter got to grips with the car in the dry on slick tires.
"Formula 3 is a great step forward. The car has a lot of downforce and is very technically demanding and advanced. It is also extremely physical because of the heavy steering and increased lateral-g in the corners and on the brakes. I really liked working with the engineers on the car. I really loved driving the F3 car."
In the afternoon of the second day Tveter set the second fastest time among the Carlin team. Tveter was improving on his second flying lap on new tires, but unfortunately the session was red flagged due to another driver's crash and the day was finished. The team were very impressed by Tveter's immediate pace and approach.
After a very successful first test, Tveter again tested for Carlin at the Monteblanco circuit on the 10th and 11th of December. Tveter again was quick and continued to learn and experience the Formula 3 car.
The final test of the season took place at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia where on the first day Tveter tested with Fortec Motorsport's FIA Formula 3 team before moving back to Carlin for the final day posting the fourth fastest time overall to complete his winter testing program.
Tveter will anounce his 2015 plans shortly after the New Year.
